The installation „War, Peace & Aftermaths“ was created in a former Brandweerkazerne in Utrecht, in time when the idea of European peace was deeply challenged by the bloodshed of the Balkan wars of 1990s. I have conceived the project as a visual interaction with other artists in the residence, responding with associations to my keywords “War and Peace”.
We all reacted visually either by drawing, writing, sketching or painting. I placed all our works, as a unique “film strip” of 10 meters in length, on the wall of the large hall. It has become our “film” about life, destruction, love, hate, hope, survival, despair…
At the opening of the exhibition this “silent film” was sounded by the mandolin of the music artist Katerina Pejoska, and my vocal interpretation accompanied by guitar.
