In March 2009 the Amsterdam Educational Television realized the project “The Storytelling Wall” (“De Vertelmuur”), recording stories from various countries of the world. They invited several artists to tell a folk tale of their choice.
I happened to be one of those storytellers. We filmed in several places: in my house, its garden, a nearby barbershop… The story had to be shot in a “cinematically interesting way” and acted out by the narrator. I have chosen the story “The Emperor Troyan has goat ears”, and the video became a part of exhibition held at the Amsterdam Public Library (OBA) for entire year.
The exhibition was centered upon a wall of monitors, placed throughout the Library space, where the library visitors could use touch-screens to invoke a story of their choice, told by its corresponding storyteller. The project turned out to be a great success with the audience, and the exhibition was extended for another six months.
